According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, approximately 300 people are killed and more than 10,000 injured in accidents involving a car pulling a trailer. Unfortunately, Canada does not provide more recent numbers, but an estimated 20% of all road deaths between 2000-2005 were due to a truck accident.
The prospect of driving a truck is daunting for any inexperienced driver. Even a few experienced drivers would have misgivings about getting behind the wheel, especially for long-haul journeys.

Between the cost of gas, rental, and insurance, the price is never what it seems. Depending on what you’re hauling, “you are likely to get less than 10 mpg in city driving.” Your own insurance may not cover you driving a truck, which adds even more to the cost, ten dollars extra at minimum.
